Enterprise Security

Maintaining the security of your enterprise is a complex and often daunting task. Hackers, denial-of-service attacks, disgruntled employees, viruses, spam, phishing, unproductive network surfing -- all these risks, and more, need to be addressed. NCS Technologies can help you address a key area that reduces many of these risks: managing how users access and use your systems.

At the core of this area are two business processes: managing identities, and managing access.

Identity Management (IM) helps keep track of the login IDs that users have to various corporate assets. These could range from Linux logins, to application-specific IDs, to access card registrations. A typical Identity Management solution provides a central data base of these IDs, and automates the business processes supporting the ID lifecycle: from initial request, through approvals and provisioning, management of suspension and leaves of absence, through to retirement of IDs because of change of job requirements, transfer, or termination. The best-in-class tools also support self-service requests, secure distribution of passwords, password synchronization, and ability to change passwords. Managers can disable IDs on a single platform or across many platforms with a single interaction. Reporting capabilities are also essential.

Access Management (AM) manages the rights assigned to identities on various platforms. A robust Access Management platform can coordinate enterprise single-sign on (E-SSO), passing rights certificates to the participating applications. It provides a central point-of-control for managing and monitoring what kinds of access are allowed to which individuals, and allows a manager to change a user’s rights from one console.

An enterprise directory greatly facilitates the implementation of IM and AM. It can be used as the repository of employee contact information and organizational structure, as well as maintain the central data base for user credentials. Establishing a directory also eases application development: individual projects no longer need to re-invent the wheel of user sign on and password management.

NCS Technologies will study your organization and information assets, and help you define the business processes that best fit your security goals. Based on this, we will jointly select and implement the proper tool-sets to implement AM, IM, and directory management.
